The requirements for railway electronics are demanding. Perhaps that is one reason why artificial intelligence (AI) in railway vehicles has not yet developed its full potential. This is about to change. Syslogic presents the AI Railway Computer RSL A3. The world's first railway computer based on the new Jetson AGX Xavier Industrial system-on-module from NVIDIA.

The newly launched NVIDIA module is specifically designed for harsh environments. With its 30 trillion operations per second (TOPS), it is suitable for AI applications such as intelligent video analysis, computer vision, inferencing, machine learning or autonomous driving. Common applications include ride and brake control, collision avoidance systems, signal and hazard detection, predictive maintenance, or railroad scare inspection.

For the Railway Computer RSL A3 Syslogic combines NVIDIA’s module with its own carrier board and robust housing. With over 30 years of experience in the railway market, Syslogic knows the requirements of railway operators and rail vehicle manufacturers for rolling stock applications. All electronics are designed for long-term reliable railway operation. Consequently, the AI Railway Computer RSL A3 is certified according to EN50155. This means the computer is rated for operation in –40C to +70C ambient. Furthermore, it complies with the fire protection standard EN45545-2 HL3 and is shock and vibration resistant according to EN61373.

The Railway Computer RSL A3 brings AI computing to rolling stock applications. Not only does it feature a robust design and come with the necessary certifications, but it also comes with a pre-installed developer environment from NVIDIA. This offers comprehensive tools and libraries. and reduces the time-to-market for future AI applications considerably. With this everything is in place for AI to become established in the railway sector.
