The Syslogic Rugged Computer RPC RSL 83 features a quad-core Intel Atom Amston Lake processor. This robust and reliable embedded system incorporates the latest processor technology.
Equipped with the Intel® Atom x7433RE processor (Amston Lake), the RSL 83 clearly outperforms its predecessor, the RSL 82 (Elkhart Lake). Thanks to Turbo Boost, the Rugged Computer RPC RSL 83 achieves significantly higher clock speeds than the RSL 82, despite a lower base frequency. With a larger overall cache, it also delivers noticeably better performance in multi-core and memory-intensive applications. At the same time, the Amston Lake processor impresses with a 25 percent lower TDP (Thermal Design Power) compared to Elkhart Lake. Combined with Syslogic’s smart passive cooling design, the rugged computer is perfectly suited for 24/7 operation in extended temperature ranges.
The rugged computer meets IP67 and IP69 protection ratings, making it resistant to dust, dirt, and water. It is also shock- and vibration-proof. In addition, a multistage watchdog and integrated temperature monitoring ensure high operational reliability and system stability. Errors are automatically detected and corrected.
The embedded system is also state-of-the-art in terms of security. UEFI Secure Boot prevents tampered software from starting. During system startup, Secure Boot checks whether the bootloader is properly digitally signed. Syslogic also integrates a hardware-based trusted platform module (TPM) for additional protection against manipulation.
The new embedded system is deployed in construction machinery, agricultural and transportation technology, as well as smart city applications. With TCC (Time Coordinated Computing), the rugged computer provides deterministic real-time performance, for example in controlling robots, vehicles, and machines, or when used as an IoT or vehicle gateway. TSN (Time-Sensitive Networking) further enables real-time capabilities over standard Ethernet. For flexible system integration, the embedded computer comes with LAN, CAN, RS232, and digital I/O interfaces. Optional expansions include 5G, WiFi, or GNSS.
The Rugged Computer RPC RSL 83 is built on the latest Intel platform, ensuring maximum availability. Syslogic guarantees this with a fixed BOM (Bill of Material). Intel also ensures at least ten years of processor availability. Syslogic Product Manager Benjamin Gassler states: “The 83 series is ideal for new designs.” Customers benefit from investing in powerful, future-proof technology while keeping total cost of ownership low, Gassler adds.
He also emphasizes that the new Rugged Computer is designed as a plug-and-play replacement for existing RSL 82 models. This underscores Syslogic’s commitment to long-term product availability.
The RPC RSL 83 can be set up quickly and easily. Upon request, Syslogic supplies the device with a preconfigured operating system. Depending on requirements, Windows or Linux versions are available — the most common being Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC and Linux Debian.
