Timed to coincide with InnoTrans, Syslogic is introducing its RML-R10 SPE. The high-performance railway computer is based on Intel® Raptor Lake technology. Four Single Pair Ethernet interfaces enable easy connectivity for sensors.

Driver assistance systems for rail vehicles are among the key topics for rail vehicle manufacturers and operators at InnoTrans. Syslogic addresses this trend with the Railway Computer RML-R10 SPE. The rail-certified embedded computer enables the integration of modern sensor technology into rolling stock applications.
Driver assistance systems are already highly advanced and well established in the automotive market. This is precisely where Syslogic’s Rugged Computer RML-R10 SPE comes in. The rugged embedded computer was specifically developed for rolling stock applications while enabling the use of proven sensor solutions from the automotive sector.
Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) plays a key role in this approach. The RML-R10 SPE features four SPE interfaces, enabling direct connectivity to compatible cameras and sensors. Benjamin Gassler, Product Manager at Syslogic, explains: “Many high-performance sensor solutions are now available for the automotive market. Single Pair Ethernet provides the foundation for using these technologies efficiently in railway applications as well.”
Each of the four SPE interfaces has its own dedicated Network Interface Controller (NIC). This makes the rugged computer suitable for real-time communication with cameras and other sensors. It also supports deterministic communication technologies such as TSN (Time-Sensitive Networking), as well as data rates of up to 1 Gbit/s. Another advantage for rolling stock applications is the ability to support cable lengths of up to 40 meters.
Typical applications include collision warning systems and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). The RML-R10 SPE is also designed for intelligent vision applications in which multiple high-resolution sensors need to be processed simultaneously.
In addition to its four SPE interfaces, the rugged computer provides four Gigabit Ethernet interfaces as well as CAN and RS232. This allows a wide range of sensors, controllers, and peripheral devices to be connected.
For wireless connectivity, 5G RedCap is available as an option. An optional u-blox GNSS receiver also supports RTK and dead reckoning without requiring additional hardware. This enables precise positioning of rail vehicles. With dead reckoning, positioning remains possible even where GNSS signals are limited or unavailable—for example, in tunnels or at railway stations.
The computing platform is based on a 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i7 processor (Raptor Lake). Its hybrid architecture combines Performance-cores and Efficient-cores, delivering high computing performance while maintaining efficient power consumption. With up to 64 GB of RAM, the system can run multiple applications simultaneously or support virtualization. PCIe 5.0 enables high-speed data transfer. Cybersecurity features include TPM 2.0, UEFI Secure Boot, Intel Control-Flow Enforcement Technology (CET), and Intel Total Memory Encryption.
Syslogic has been developing embedded computers for rail vehicles for many years. Accordingly, the RML-R10 SPE was consistently designed around the requirements of rolling stock applications. The system meets key railway standards, including EN 50155 Class OT4 for extended temperature ranges, EN 50125 for environmental conditions, EN 45545-2 HL3 for fire protection, and EN 61373 for shock and vibration resistance.
The railway computer also provides 10 ms power interruption ride-through in accordance with EN 50155 Class S2 and meets EMC and insulation requirements according to EN 50121. Thanks to its galvanically isolated wide-range power input from 16.8 to 137.5 VDC, the system can be connected directly to all common onboard power networks without additional DC/DC converters.
