The Protouch series from Syslogic includes a touch panel PC, which was developed specifically for use in vehicles. It is based on the vehicle computer Compact 81. All electronic components in the vehicle touch PC are firmly soldered. Moving parts are also deliberately avoided. Thanks to the passive cooling concept, error-prone fans are not needed. Screwable M12 connectors were used for the LAN interfaces and the power supply. All in all, this non-compromising design makes sure the vehicle computer continues to function reliably for the long term, even under the toughest of conditions. It is designed to withstand shock and vibration.
The touch panel PC comes with a 10.1-inch monitor with IP67 protection. The quad-core processes from Intel Atom’s Apollo Lake series (x5-E3940 or x7-3950) provide power reserves for demanding applications. Since vehicles, including trains, construction machines and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) are often used for several years, long-term availability is also a key criterion. Syslogic guarantees availability over several years. Upon request, the company even offers ‘form, fit and function’ for 20 years.
